Propane conversion specialist Alliance Autogas now has EPA certification to covert more than 200 vehicles to clean-burning propane gas.

Alliance Autogas uses the Prins vapor and liquid injection technology ssystem for propane conversions. Reaching the 200 vehicle milestone means fleet managers and private vehicle owners now have a huge array of makes and models to choose from when making the alternative fuel switch.

New certifications include the latest model years for the popular Ford Crown Victoria and E-series vans, and additional certifications for several medium duty GM platforms.

Alliance Autogas is a conversion equipment provider and co-founding partner of American Alternative Fuel, which has privately funded the EPA certifications. It is the largest privately financed portfolio of autogas vehicle certifications in the US. American Alternative Fuel aims to bring more choice to consumer markets in terms of vehicles that can run on propane autogas, domesticfuel.com reports.

More than 15 million vehicles worldwide are powered by propane, which is much cheaper than gasoline or diesel and more environmentally friendly as it produces far fewer harmful emissions. Propane also reduces vehicle maintenance costs and the gas is produced in abundance domestically in the US, cutting our reliance on foreign oil.

It currently attracts a tax subsidy here in the US to promote the use of alternative fuels. The industry is lobbying for an extension of the propane tax incentive scheme through the Propane Green Autogas Solution Act (Propane GAS Act) of 2011.

“Alliance AutoGas is dedicated to serving America’s fleets by continually expanding our EPA-certified vehicle options,” says Stuart Weidie, president of Alliance AutoGas and founder of Autogas for America. “Our partners have worked hard to achieve such an extensive portfolio and we’re proud to have reached this milestone, without government or industry underwriting.”

Fleet managers considering the switch to propane can estimate their annual fuel cost savings by using the Alliance Autogas savings calculator. The website also features a full list of Alliance Autogas EPA-certified vehicles.

“Not only is Alliance AutoGas America’s only complete program for fleets to shift to autogas, we can now work with more vehicle types than anyone else in the country,” says Weidie. “Autogas is a smart choice for fleets, and with the Alliance complete program, it’s an easy choice.”
